Shadow People

Shadow People

The Shadow People:

The Wench, The Cat, The bowler hat dude that vaguely resembles the creepy man at the pub that tries to buy you the cheapest draft on the menu. Who are they? What are they? What the actual fuck do they want? Why are they creeps in an eerie way and also just like someone following you at the store and approaches you because they swear they went to high school or they sat behind you during a Trig college course and now theyre trying to advance to phase II of their pyramid scheme apparatus and want you to come to their office that’s just down the street to meet the team they built and how you can be driving a leased Lexus just like them if you grind everyday and collect that fucking coin babeyyyy.

What is a Shadow Person?

A shadow person (also known as a shadow figure, shadow being or black mass) is the perception of a patch of shadow as a living, humanoid figure, and, interpreted as the presence of a spirit or other entity by believers in the paranormal or supernatural and autonomous beings.

Demons or Other Spirit Entities

The dark countenance and malevolent feelings that are often reported in association with these creatures have led some researchers to speculate that they may be demonic in nature. If they are demons, we have to wonder what their purpose or intent is in letting themselves be seen in this manner. Is it merely to frighten?

Astral Bodies

One theory suggests that shadow people are the shadows or essences of people who are having out-of-body experiences. According to Jerry Gross, an author, lecturer, and teacher of astral travel, we all travel out of the body when we are asleep. Perhaps, this theory says, we are seeing the ephemeral astral bodies of these twilight travelers.

Time Travelers

Another theory is that people from the future could have found the means to travel to the past—our time. However they are able to accomplish this incredible feat, perhaps in that state, they appear to us merely as passing shadows as they observe the events of our timeline.

Interdimensional Beings

Even mainstream science is fairly convinced that there are dimensions other than the three we inhabit. And if these other dimensions exist, who or what (if anything) inhabits them? Some theorists say that these dimensions exist parallel and very close to our own, although invisible to us. And if there are inhabitants in these other dimensions, it is possible that they have found a way to intrude on our dimension and become, at least partially, visible? If so, they could very well appear as shadows. It has long been held by psychics and other sensitives that beings on other planes of existence are of different "vibrations." Science is beginning to look at reality, on a quantum level, in the same way—that particles of the smallest size exist as vibrations. Perhaps, some theorize, the vibrations of our existence are beginning to mesh with those of another dimension, which accounts for the increase in such phenomena as ghosts, shadow people, and possibly aliens.

Aliens

The alien and abduction phenomena are so bizarre that it's no surprise that extraterrestrials are suspects as the shadow people. Abductees have reported in many cases that the alien grays seem to be able to pass through walls and closed windows and to appear and disappear abruptly, among other otherworldly talents. Perhaps, too, they can go about their alien agenda disguised in the shadows.

There's a good deal of overlapping among the above ideas, of course. Aliens and ghosts could be inter-dimensional beings, or aliens could be time travelers—and some believe demons are responsible for all of these disturbing phenomena.

Simply a Mystery

There is no way to prove or disprove any theories about a phenomenon that is so mysterious, that happens so quickly and without warning. Science finds it virtually impossible to catalog or study such phenomena in any methodical way. All we can do, at present, is to document personal experiences and try to piece together what the shadow people phenomenon might be. Perhaps it's an old mystery becoming more recognizable—perhaps it represents a doorway to and from different planes of existence... or perhaps they simply are just shadows.

Types of Shadow People

Lurking Shadow People

The shadow people that are often seen around bedrooms just lurking around, standing in doorways or corners and just watch their victims. These shadow entities don’t generally seem to have any intent, they’re simply observing. Kinda boring if you ask me. They enjoy people watching so I guess I can relate to them yet the standing in the corner part is kind of creepy. Not in a “oh shit theyre going to attack me” but as in a way you feel uncomfortable when you feel a man staring at you or a pervert just fucking in your space. Yikes.

Sometimes these lurking shadow folks wander a location, following people, or even stalking them. Quite often they flee at being noticed, vanishing around corners or going through a wall. They, also, do not wish to be perceived. LMAO then why are you lurking?? Lil freak.

The most amusing part, the hilarious fact of these shadow lurkers, is that theyre often seen with a HAT, specifically a fucking bowler’s hat lmao like what a look. They’re often times seen with a cloak or large coat.

Encounters with this class of shadow lurkers typically install a sense of dread or foreboding. Whether this is just part of our distinctive reaction to seeing something dark in the night (sometimes during the day, there’s really no concept of time when youre a creep), or if they actually exude a sense of fear around them is open for debate. Some seem to just be observing us with unspoken intent.

Caution should be used though with any of these entities, as a neutral in intent shadow person may actually be a sheltie one waiting for an opening. Like those blokes at the coffee shoppe that stand a tad bit too close to you in hopes that you’ll shift out of line so they can nonchalantly take your spot, yeah fuck those people. Fucking cucks.

Dangerous or Aggressive Shadow People

Some of these feel are hella malevolent. This is exactly why your abuela would caution you by saying “Ay Mijo, cuidado con los malos espíritus”

Black Mass Shadow People

Less human in form, but still of that general size and the black mass type of shadow people give the impression of being a human figure but more fuzzy or blurred.  They can change in shape, forming more of a cloud, but the impression is always that an entity it there.

It is my assertion that many of these black mass Shadow People are former negative spirits that have begun growing in power and are losing their human identity.  As they absorb more and more negative emotion their sense of being human and who they are fades and becomes distorted. In the end, the become a form of the following type of shadow people, demonic.

Demonic Shadow People With Red Eyes

Definitely the most dangerous of the types of Shadow People, demonic shadows should be avoided at all costs.  Among Shadow People, these are one of the few types that you can sometimes see the eyes of.  Many accounts of them talk of glowing red eyes, which is a particularly bad sign.

Demonic forms vary widely, but usually retain a humanoid shape, but are often exaggerated in height, have wings or horns or elongated fingers. They do not give the impression of being a normal ghost or a sentient entity.

Luckily these demonic Shadow People are typically tied to one location

Scientific Explanations

Several physiological and psychological conditions can account for reported experiences of shadowy shapes seeming alive. A sleep paralysis sufferer may perceive a "shadowy or indistinct shape" approaching them when they lie awake paralyzed and become increasingly alarmed.

A person experiencing heightened emotion, such as while walking alone on a dark night, may incorrectly perceive a patch of shadow as an attack

Many methamphetamine addicts report the appearance of "shadow people" after prolonged periods of sleep deprivation. Psychiatrist Jack Potts suggests that methamphetamine usage adds a "conspiratorial component" to the sleep deprivation hallucinations. One interviewed subject said that "You don't see shadow dogs or shadow birds or shadow cars. You see shadow people. Standing in doorways, walking behind you, coming at you on the sidewalk."These hallucinations have been directly compared to the paranormal entities described in folklore.

Finally, visual hallucinations, such as those caused by schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, may appear to be shadowy figures at the edge of peripheral vision.

Pareidolia

Pareidolia (/pærɪˈdoʊliə/ parr-i-DOH-lee-ə) is the tendency for incorrect perception of a stimulus as an object, pattern or meaning known to the observer, such as seeing shapes in clouds, seeing faces in inanimate objects or abstract patterns, or hearing hidden messages in music. Pareidolia can be considered a subcategory of apophenia.

Common examples are perceived images of animals, faces, or objects in cloud formations, the Man in the Moon, the Moon rabbit, and other lunar pareidolia. The concept of pareidolia may extend to include hidden messages in recorded music played in reverse or at higher- or lower-than-normal speeds, and hearing indistinct voices in random noise such as that produced by air conditioners or fans.[1]

Pareidolia was at one time considered a symptom of human psychosis, but it is now seen as a normal human tendency.[2]

Spiritual Phenomenon

Genies

Jinn (Arabic: جن‎, jinn), also Romanized as djinn or Anglicized as genies (with the more broad meaning of spirits or demons, depending on source),[1][2] are supernatural creatures in early pre-Islamic Arabian and later Islamic mythology and theology. Like humans, they are created with fitra, born as believers, their surroundings then change them.[3] Since jinn are neither innately evil nor innately good, Islam acknowledged spirits from other religions, and was able to adapt spirits from other religions during its expansion. Jinn are not a strictly Islamic concept; they may represent several pagan beliefs integrated into Islam.[a][5]

In an Islamic context, the term jinn is used for both a collective designation for any supernatural creature and also to refer to a specific type of supernatural creature.[6] Therefore, jinn are often mentioned together with devils/demons (shayāṭīn). Both devils and jinn feature in folklore and are held responsible for misfortune, possession and diseases. However, the jinn are sometimes supportive and benevolent. They are mentioned frequently in magical works throughout the Islamic world, to be summoned and bound to a sorcerer, but also in zoological treatises as animals with a subtle body.

Apparitional Experience

In parapsychology, an apparitional experience is an anomalous experience characterized by the apparent perception of either a living being or an inanimate object without there being any material stimulus for such a perception.

In academic discussion, the term "apparitional experience" is to be preferred to the term "ghost" in respect of the following points:

The term ghost implies that some element of the human being survives death and, at least under certain circumstances, can make itself perceptible to living human beings. There are other competing explanations of apparitional experiences.

Firsthand accounts of apparitional experiences differ in many respects from their fictional counterparts in literary or traditional ghost stories and films (see below).

The content of apparitional experiences includes living beings, both human and animal, and even inanimate objects.

Direct Realism

Apparitional experiences also have implications for the philosophy of perception. The occurrence of hallucinations, that is, perceptual experiences 'having the character of sense perception, but without relevant or adequate sensory stimulation (Referencing Drever’s philosophy in “The Dictionary of Psychology”) have long been one of the standard objections to the philosophical theory of direct realism.

In philosophy of perception and philosophy of mind, naïve realism (also known as direct realism, perceptual realism, or common sense realism) is the idea that the senses provide us with direct awareness of objects as they really are. When referred to as direct realism, naïve realism is often contrasted with indirect realism which is a philosophical theory that was advocated by the late 20th century psychologist J.J. Gibson.
