Paul Edward Salazar

Born and raised in Southern California, I’ve always been drawn to the arts and the creative process. I started my journey in music as a Trumpet player in middle school and quickly transitioned into a leadership role as drum major for my high school marching band. I’ve led his high school marching band to a first-place victory in the SCSBOA championships in 2014, and they were commended for their outstanding visuals and musical performance. From this victory, my eye for photography and cinematic sequences began to flourish. I traveled across the country during college, performing music and teaching dance to high school marching bands with multiple world-class ensembles, including DCI.

In 2017, I began to film music videos and record live sessions with local artists to promote their work and fulfill his passion for creation beyond musicianship. I shot his first major festival (SXSW festival) in March 2018, toured with a local band that had little to no digital media exposure. I shot photos, video performances and created a music video for them, giving them a visual media genesis to kick-start their growth.

I’ve grown in my versatile skill set, go-with-the-flow, problem-solving attitude, and charismatic curiosity are evident in the high quality, ethereal, and memorable visuals I create. My videography knowledge is self-taught, but my biggest inspiration is my dad, a hobbyist photographer, who helped me develop my technical photography skills and the love for photography I’ve grown into today.

Over the course of 2018, I also began to collaborate with other wedding photographers to shoot weddings, made my production assistant/directorial debut by producing several other music videos, commercial advertisements, and shot fashion editorials for brands SUGAR COMA clothing company and Rip and Repair. This has led to many opportunities, such as working with bands across the country and world. To name a few, I’ve worked with bands such as Daise, Fairwell, Varsity, The Boxer Rebellion, Belmont, Cory Wells, and Andy’s room.

When I’m not creating, I enjoy hanging out with my German Shepard “Chewie/Chewbacca,” playing Dungeons and Dragons, watching Star Wars, Reading, Hiking, Traveling, Making Coffee, and cooking.
